South African Sign Language Officer (25 hours per week) (post level 11/10)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage diary of the head of department
  • Organise staff meetings
  • Maintain an organised filing a system
  • Answer and make phone calls to relevant stakeholders
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail
  • Control assets in the offices and regularly update the asset register
  • Book venues, order refreshments and handle general administrative duties related to workshops, meetings and functions of the department
  • Organise flight bookings, accommodation and car rentals
  • Place book orders at book stores, and borrow books from the Sasol Library and return them
  • Manage the financial books of the department and compile monthly reports thereof
  • Attend to requisitions, claims, invoices and other related financial administration
  • Order office equipment and stationery
  • Handle student enquiries
  • Assist with class and exam timetables
  • Organise tests and exam papers and capture marks
  • Report computer, printer and telephone faults
  • Capture research outputs on a database
  • Perform other general office administrative duties

  • Inherent requirements:

    • Certificate in office administration or relevant qualification
    • Two (2) years’ relevant experience


    Recommendations:

    • Sound knowledge of PeopleSoft financials and related systems
    • A valid driver’s license


    Required competencies:

    • Advanced computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Excellent administrative skills
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment
    • Ability to work accurately, systematically, independently and under pressure
    • Ability to demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour at all times
