Senior Lecturer

The Rural Clinical School (UQRCS) envisions securing a self-sustaining medical workforce for regional Queensland through excellence in medical education, research and community service. With a recurrent budget of up to $9m per annum provided through the Australian Government's Multidisciplinary Rural Health Training (MRHT) program and a capital works portfolio in excess of $20m, UQRCS is a substantial enterprise. In partnership with the health system and service providers across regional Queensland, UQRCS works across four Clinical Sites, - Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton & Toowoomba – and is the rural base for the delivery of the UQ medical program.

The role

The successful appointee will be a key member of the UQRCS academic team and will coordinate and teach into the UQ medical program delivered in Rockhampton. This position focusses on third-year medical student and the enhancement of clinical skills knowledge and competencies. You will engage with colleagues in local teaching hospitals and clinics to deliver positive learning experiences, particularly in the areas of simulation-based learning and team-based learning. Additionally, there is the opportunity to contribute to an expanding research program.

The person

Applicants will have a medical qualification together with fellowship of a specialist College and be registered as a medical practitioner in Australia. A demonstrated recod of achievement in a clinical educational role is essential as is experience in liaising and collaborating with a broad range of colleagues/agencies to develop collaborative initiatives. A proven ability to supervise, mentor and nurture students and staff is required. In the contect of the Rural Clinical School mandate, a vision for the future needs and development of medicine and the provision of services within rural and regional Australia from educational, research and clinical services perspectives is highly desirable.

Remuneration

This is a part-time (0.2FTE), fixed term appointment until 30 November 2018 at Academic Level C. The remuneration package will be in the range $108,586 - $126,360 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $128,216 - $147,841 p.a.).
