Reporting to the Senior Research Accountant, you will be responsible for providing excellent stakeholder service to the University’s finance community in the areas of:

  • monthly financial reporting;

  • general ledger reconciliations;

  • fixed asset accounting;

  • inventory administration;

  • annual reporting;

  • forecasts;

  • lease and insurance administration;

  • providing support to the Senior Research Accountant

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major in accounting;

  • Working towards or membership with a professional accounting institute (Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand or equivalent;

  • Self-starter with a focus on process improvement;

  • Analytical skills;

  • Solution driven;

  • High standard of computer literacy with advanced Excel skills;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accountancy best practice;

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to easily build relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.


In addition, you will need to work well under pressure, show initiative and have a willing attitude to coach and support other members of the Finance team. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials, SAP and Oracle. Previous experience of working in large complex organisations is an advantage.
