Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in High Performance and Optical Networking

Job Details

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the Merchant Venturers’ School of Engineering is seeking to appoint an academic to strengthen and help deliver its networking and vision. Successful applicants should have an interest to develop collaborative research activities in high performance network, protocol specification and performance evaluation of distributed systems, with specific interest in access networks, embedded systems networks and data acquisition and management platforms. The successful applicant will also be required to contribute to the teaching of networking and other areas of teaching within the department as appropriate. You will have an outstanding research record, will have an established history of attracting substantial research funding, and will be expected to provide strong leadership and vision in research.

This post is expected to contribute and strengthen the Internationally leading research in High-Performance , Optical and Data Centre Networking led by Prof Dimitra Simeonidou within the High Performance Networks group and Smart Internet Lab (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/engineering/research/research-groups/high-performance-networks/, http://www.bristol.ac.uk/engineering/research/smart/).

The applicant will join the High-Performance Network (HPN) group and the new created Research Centre, Smart Internet Lab.

Specific areas of research interests for this post are any of the following: optical communications and networks, data-centre photonic interconnects, optical-wireless convergence, network control and management.

This post is being offered on a full time, open ended contract.

The second one page statement should discuss your research plans and how they will impact on the research profile of the School, the Department and the High Performance Networks group.

The selection process, including interviews is expected to take place November/December 2016.
