Job Details

Based in the Bristol Doctoral College (http://www.bris.ac.uk/doctoral-college/), the role holder will oversee the BDC’s communications and engagement portfolio.

As a BDC’s lead expert in communications, the role holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of a BDC communications plan, which will be agreed with the BDC Board. The BDC communications plan enables the BDC to communicate effectively with current and potential postgraduate research (PGR) students, academic communities, professional services, and external stakeholders.

The role holder will also be responsible for implementing and coordinating the University’s programme of PGR-focused events, in order to support and complement the BDC’s aim of fostering PGR communities, enhancing internal PGR stakeholder relations, and contributing to wider BDC aims to build relationships with external stakeholders.

Interpersonal communications are pivotal to this role as the role holder works closely with a diverse range of teams and divisions across the University including: colleagues in the Academic Registry; University faculty teams; and key contacts in the Careers Service, Academic Staff Development, IT Services, Library Services, Research and Enterprise Development, the International Office, the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office, and the Public Relations Office. External contacts include Vitae and the GW4 Alliance.

This is an exciting time to join the Bristol Doctoral College, as its undergoing transformation and expansion. Initially the role holder will report to the Bristol Doctoral College Manager, with a change of line management once the new structure of the BDC has been established. The role holder will be responsible for line-managing administrative staff as pertains to the role.

This post is available to start immediately.
