The discipline of Physics is located within the School of Mathematics and Physics in the Faculty of Science. The Discipline is internationally recognised for its research excellence and hosts a number of first-class research centres. The School of Mathematics and Physics leads the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems and are a node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology.

The role

This position will work on a project grant to develop and test new microscopy techniques based on quantum correlated light and concepts from quantum physics. The position will contribute to the United States Air Force Office of Scientific Report (AFOSR) Biophysics Program, for which Professor Warwick Bowen is Principal Investigator.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent in physics, physical chemistry, materials science or a related discipline with experience in the fields of experimental opto-mechnics and/or nonlinear optics, and precision sensing. Applicants will also demonstrate knowledge of, and capacity for, research in experimental physics. You should also have a high level of oral and written communication skills, with the ability to research and write reports.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $89,458 - $106,232 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $104,667 - $124,292 p.a.).
