Academic Enhancement Manager

Queen’s School of Engineering (Civil, Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering)

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the development and delivery of strategies aimed at providing an improved learning environment and enhanced experience for students studying within the Queen’s School of Engineering. The post holder will operate across all degree programmes within the School, which span the disciplines of Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Design.

The Academic Enhancement Manager will work closely with academic staff to undertake curriculum design, including the construction of learning outcomes and assessments. Their remit will include delivering the enhancement and expansion of the School’s use of Virtual Learning Environments, and supporting a move to ‘team teaching’ of the core disciplines common across our programmes.  Importantly, they will be expected to liaise with student representatives to ensure the student voice is fed into student experience and curricula enhancement strategies and is represented to academic and management staff.

We are looking for a motivated individual with an outstanding background of working in a student-facing environment and who has experience of using and developing technology enhanced learning tools. They will be expected to have an understanding of the relevant pedagogical methods and a proven capability to relate to, and work with, students as partners. A first degree or equivalent in an engineering or related science discipline and a relevant postgraduate degree and/or teaching qualification are required.

The School holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award and we are committed to the equality of opportunities and to selection on merit.  The University has a wide range of policies aimed at supporting staff in work.  Please see www.bristol.ac.uk/equalityanddiversity for further details.

This is an open-ended post. Applications for part-time working or job shares will be considered.

Interviews will take place on the 30th June 2017.

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be directed to Elizabeth Gardner, School Manager Queen’s School of Engineering, on elizabeth.gardner@bristol.ac.uk.
