Postdoctoral Research Associate in Healthy Ageing

Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to work on an Arthritis Research UK funded project entitled “An epigenetic approach to healthy ageing; modulating cellular senescence in stem cells”. The main focus of this post is to investigate the effects of a small molecule, which is able to reverse senescence in mesenchymal stem cells through an epigenetic mechanism and determine whether this leads to improved health span using in vivo models of ageing, particularly in the musculoskeletal system. This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to develop their scientific career by working as part of a highly productive team in an outstanding research environment situated in CIMA. You will use in vitro and in vivo stem cell systems and systems to assess tissue ageing and function and whether these can be ameliorated by modulation with small molecules interfering with epigenetic regulators. A proven academic track record and a commitment to a career in this area of research are essential. Experience in mesenchymal stem cells, epigenetics, and/or possession of a personal Home Office license are an advantage. This post is full time and fixed term for 16 months.
