This position will contribute to Merck's drug discovery and clinical development efforts in the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism (PPDM) at MRL Boston. The primary role of the successful candidate will be to contribute to drug discovery and/or development teams across therapeutic areas, from target validation to patients. The successful candidate will be a scientific leader, with a passion for designing and interpreting studies utilizing in silico, in vitro and in vivo approaches to improve our success in inventing differentiated medicines. A record of accomplishment of successful collaboration while working in cross-functional project teams is expected. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for mentoring and training scientists, as well as contributing to setting global ADME strategy. Responsibilities will also include presenting to senior leadership as well as preparing documentation for regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years relevant experience, Master’s degree with 10+ years experience or PhD with 8+ years experience. Relevant subjects for highest degree include biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology or chemical engineering.

Required:

- 8+ years of experience serving on multidisciplinary drug discovery and/or development project teams
- Strong scientific background in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug metabolism sciences
- Experience in writing documentation for regulatory submissions
- Established external scientific reputation (e.g. publication record, leadership in consortia, external presentations)
- Excellent communication, mentoring, influencing and leadership skills

Preferred:

- Experience in peptide and/or biologics drug discovery
- Experience of in-licensing Due Diligence activities
