Job Details

This post is open to current NCAS staff only

Do you have a great news sense with experience of working in a communications environment? Are you a proactive person who likes to use your initiative to come up with creative solutions? Do you have excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently interact with a diverse range of people?

The National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) is one of the Natural Environment Research Council's (NERC) research centres with the remit of providing NERC and the UK with National Capability (defined by NERC as large research infrastructure, research services and long term science programmes) in atmospheric science. NCAS is a recognised leader in this field with international reputations across a spectrum of environmental science including climate change, atmospheric physics (including weather), chemistry (including air quality) and atmospheric technology (including observations and modelling).

You will be part of the communications team within the NCAS headquarters based at the University of Leeds, helping to promote the science and facilities of NCAS to its target audiences and stakeholders. The role will involve some travel, occasional overnight stays away from Leeds and some weekend working.

You will have experience of working in a communications environment, either in a voluntary or paid capacity and highly effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey often complex information in a clear and concise manner. You will also have excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
