Advanced Water Management Centre

The Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) is an international centre of excellence in innovative water technology, treatment and management. With over 100 research staff and students based at The University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus, the AWMC has established a substantial niche in the interdisciplinary fields of biological science and chemical process engineering. The AWMC has an international reputation for expertise in education, research and training, with >100 international journal publications per year and excellent funding successes from industry and the Australian Research Council (>$8M in the last 3 years). The Role

We seek highly motivated PhD students to work on this very exciting project which aims to develop a bioelectrochemical system for the sustainable recovery of nutrients from source-separated human urine. The successful candidate will work extensively in AWMC laboratories, but will also undertake desktop work and pilot work at the Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU) Innovation Centre, under the guidance of a multidisciplinary advisory team.

The Person

This scholarship is open to Australian citizens and international applicants. Candidates should have Honours degree (First Class or IIA) in Environmental Microbiology, Environmental Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or similar. International candidates should be eligible for an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) or external scholarship (for more information, please visit: http://www.uq.edu.au/grad-school/scholarships-and-fees).

Remuneration

The current RTP Stipend rate is AUD$26,682.00 per annum (2017 rate, indexed annually) tax-free for three years with the possibility of two 6-month extensions in approved circumstances.
