The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, synthesis, purification and characterization of peptide or macrocycle drug candidates in target validation, hit-to-lead and lead optimization projects. In this role, the incumbent will engage in synthetic and medicinal chemistry problem solving and work with team members to drive progress. He/She will analyze diverse data sets to build structure-activity relationships. As a Scientist, the candidate will have collaborative engagement with the Merck Boston scientific community and participate as an active member of project teams. The successful candidate must also have excellent interpersonal, cross functional collaboration and communication skills.
Qualifications
Education:
- B.S. in chemistry, biochemistry or related field with a minimum of 2 years pharmaceutical industry experience or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry or related field
Required:
- Experience in peptide or macrocycle synthesis, purification and analytical characterization including HPLC, MS and biophysical methods
- Ability to mine scientific literature and databases
- Experience in communication and collaboration skills in a team environment
