Additionally, the postholder will need to work closely and establish strong working relationships technical staff in IT Services, the New Core implementation partners, and Oracle. At times, this will involve introducing and embedding new working processes and ways of thinking to the organisation to ensure that a sustainable and supportable environments roadmap is developed and implemented.

Planning and organising:

The broad remit of the role will be presented to the postholder, who will then be expected to define and manage workload to achieve that remit. Guidance will be available from the post holder’s manager and the New Core workstream leads, in particular the IT workstream.

Problem solving and decision making:

The postholder will need to demonstrate significant analysis and solving skills, both relating to ensuring that there are sufficient environments available for all programme activities, and challenges that will arise during the interim release phases when many legacy services will still be running and will need to integrate with the environments that form part of the new system. In dealing with problems, the postholder will be expected to liaise with key stakeholders, taking responsibility when required to identify solutions and make recommendations that meet business and technical requirements.

The postholder will be required to make decisions without reference to others that relating to their day to day activities, and how they organise their time and workload. They will also need to add technical input into decisions made by other people, including quite high impact decisions surrounding environment management.

Internal and external relationships:

The postholder will be required to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders across the University and provide both formal and informal feedback to stakeholders in the New Core project. Additionally, the postholder will work closely and maintain relationships with the representatives of the selected New Core implementation partner and with Oracle.
