Job Details
The School for Policy Studies wishes to appoint a Senior Teaching Associate in Criminology to make a central contribution to the delivery of new BSc Criminology which starts in September 2017.
The purpose of this post is to contribute to the expansion of our teaching offer and student numbers. The successful post-holder would be expected to deliver high quality research-informed specialist teaching in the fields of criminology.
This post carries no requirement to undertake research, but participation in the research culture of the School, for example through attending research seminars, is encouraged. The successful candidate will join a vibrant School, with excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.
You should have excellent knowledge of core theories, debates, and concepts in criminology encompassing social harm perspectives. It is desirable if you have expertise in the harms of corporations and states, particularly within international and transglobal contexts. You should have experience of teaching and assessing in a higher education context; the ability to coordinate programmes of teaching at unit/module level, undertake personal tutoring and dissertation supervision; and possess excellent administrative and organisational skills. A PhD (or to be working towards one) or equivalent in Criminology (or related discipline) is an essential requirement for this role.
This post is fixed term for 1 year and it is available from 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
