Under the supervision of a Senior Specialist or Associate Director, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the efficient and effective planning and scheduling of maintenance work activities & the associated resources to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Planner/Scheduler provides day-to-day planning & scheduling support for assigned area, which may include vaccine bulk manufacturing, filling, lyophilization, packaging, and/or support utilities including power, HVAC, steam, WFI and controlled temperature units.

The planner/scheduler will work collaboratively with all stakeholders, manage work priorities, engage the proper resources & ensure parts availability to execute a safe, effective and efficient job for all planned Preventative, Predictive and Corrective work orders. The planner /scheduler actively ensures GMP quality, safety, environmental, and operating cost goals are achieved, and may sometimes provide supervisory coverage of hourly mechanic workforce to ensure supply of a high quality product.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Support maintenance scheduling and planning processes in area of responsibility.
- Act as Primary Operation’s scheduler liaison, for planned maintenance activities
- Analyze work order backlog and prioritize work, issue daily/weekly schedule, Initiate work orders as needed.
- Develop resource allocation by craft, manage OT Requests / Manpower availability / Resource sharing
- Implement work efficiencies as part of scheduling process to improve productivity eg work permits
- Coordinate / Execute work order parts & kitting, including purchasing
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor to execute the schedule & COMP / CLOSE work orders per cGMPs
- Generate Maintenance Planning, Scheduling & Work Execution metrics
- Develops maintenance and repair strategy for bi-annual shutdowns
- Work with Operations, other EM&U engineers, Technology, Maintenance Supervisors and mechanics to maximize capacity and assure efficient, reliable equipment operation in accordance with all GMP, safety and environmental regulations.
- Champions the preventive and predictive maintenance program within area of responsibility, reviews actual hours versus estimated hours, updates CMMS accordingly, reviews equipment history for reliability concerns, performs root cause analysis, and identifies reliability improvement opportunities and applications for predictive maintenance technologies to reduce maintenance costs.
- Assists/leads Operations, maintenance supervisors, mechanics, automation engineers, process engineers and Quality representatives in troubleshooting equipment problems as well as investigating manufacturing atypical events related to equipment failure or malfunction.
- Identifies spare parts and stand-by equipment needed to assure maximum capacity and reliability.
- Supports positive safety culture and participates in Hazard reviews and Safety inspections, Safety Investigations, near misses, annual S&E Program requirements, JSA’s for non-routine work. Promotes open communications, inclusion and team work.
- Authors Standard Operating Procedures or User Manuals and assists in training for mechanics and supervisors.
- Explains and enforces all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in audits, regulatory inspections and training in the area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in technical field – OR – High School Diploma/GED or higher with equivalent industry experience
Required:

- Minimum of three (3) years’ manufacturing or technical support group experience
- Experience working in a team environment specifically in the area of collaboration
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Proficient in the areas of motivation, empowering leadership and flexibility
- Experience with Computerized Management Maintenance Systems & Excel or equivalent database/spreadsheet systems
Preferred:

- Working Knowledge of cGMPs for pharmaceutical and/or vaccine manufacturing
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma Methodology
- Root Cause Analysis
- Failure Mode Effects Analysis
- Knowledge in reliability engineering (including asset life cycle management)
- CMRP certification
