School of Veterinary Science

The School also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.       

The Role

This position is responsible for the care of all Equine Specialist Hospital in-patients (feed, water and bedding), handling and restraint of horses for clinical procedures, as well as the care and maintenance of the stable facilities (stable cleaning, general cleaning) at the Equine Hospital.

The Person

Applicants should have completed Year 10 and have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the horse industry, including experience with active horse husbandry and handling. An open driver's licence (Class C) is essential for this position, and a current forklift ticket would be highly desirable.

The perfect candidate for this role must be physically fit, and capable of carrying out duties such as trotting horses, bedding and cleaning stables, providing manual assistance with moving and manipulating anaesthetised horses, and restraint of horses as well as demonstrating care and compassion for hospital patients.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing position at HEW Level 1. The  base remuneration package will be in the range: $46,599 – $48.665 p.a  plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $54,520 to $56,938 p.a.).
