Job Details
Your position
A postdoctoral or PhD student position is available in the Focal Area Infection Biology in the research group of Prof. Jean Pieters. Our laboratory is investigating the cellular activation processes that are involved in the body's responses towards pathogenic stimuli. One of the model systems we are analyzing concerns the interaction of pathogenic mycobacteria, including M. tuberculosis, with host cells. Mycobacteria are one of the most adapted pathogens known, and the envisioned project aims to analyze the interaction between pathogen and host cells at the molecular and cellular level. For further information please visit www.biozentrum.unibas.ch. The successful applicant will be able to use state-of-the-art microbiological, biochemical, molecular biological and cell biological approaches including RNAseq, proteomics, shRNA- and CRISPR/Cas9-based screening technologies as well as imaging.
Your profile
The successful candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology and ideally be familiar with microbiological, cell biological and in vivo techniques. Furthermore, the candidate should be highly motivated, self-driven, be able to work well in a team as well as independently.
We offer you
The Biozentrum offers an exciting and enthusiastic work environment with excellent infrastructure, including core facilities for imaging, FACS, proteomics and biophysics and a strong national and international collaboration network.
Application / Contact
Applications should be submitted electronically including your CV, research experience, statement of research objectives and recommendation letters to Prof. Jean Pieters (jean.pieters@unibas.ch).
