Job Details

We invite applicants with full doctor (doktor habilitowany) degree or professor title obtained in in the area of astronomy/astrophysics and outstanding research record in theoretical astrophysics. We seek candidates with considerable expertise in the research if compact astrophysical objects, their structure and properties as well as modelling their emission. We also expect expertise in the area of gravitational waves (GW) astronomy, including analysis and interpretation of data from GW detectors and modelling of GW sources. we expect the successful applicant to actively join the theoretical astrophysics team in the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw.

The applicant should also have considerable organizational and academic teaching records. The teaching duties are at the level of 210 hours per academic year.
 
The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 109 of Higher Education Law dated 27.07.2005. (uniform text: Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2016, item 1842 with further amendments).
The requirements:

  • full doctor (doktor habilitowany) or professor title
  • outstanding scientific record in theoretical astrophysics
  • teaching expertise in astronomy at the university level
  • significant achievements in supervising young scientific staff, including acting as a PhD thesis supervisor of at least one doctoral student
  • significant organizational achievements, including management of or participation in the realization of research projects

 

The entire procedure will be concluded before March 31, 2018.

The candidates might be asked for an interview with the commission appointed by the Dean of the Faculty.

All applicants will be notified individually by email about the results of the competition.
