Job Details
Skills tests are commonly used by golf coaches as a supposed means to assess improvement and performance in their players. Such tests may involve the use of ball tracking equipment e.g. Trackman Combine or simpler methods such as Pelz's short-game handicap. There is limited literature in the area of skill testing in golf (e.g. Robertson, Burnett & Gupta, 2014) despite their common usage. This work will seek to examine the use of skill testing in Golf considering such questions as:
- How reliable are the current testing practices used by professional golf coaches?
- Do the results of skills tests bear any relation to on course tournament performance?
