Job Details

Details

A PhD under supervision from Dr Quinn can focus on any aspect of the foreign policy and security policy of the United States, including: contemporary policy responses to security challenges longer-term historical trends in the American approach to the world, and/or the role of domestic politics and ideology in shaping foreign policy. He is also able to supervise work on American relative power, hegemony and the question of how the present international order may change or be sustained in light of shifts in the distribution of power.

Dr Quinn is happy to work with strong candidates in developing their research proposal, but they should approach him with a clear initial idea in mind for their area of focus and a draft outline of their proposal already in writing. Please see the link to the Department’s Guidelines for PhD Applicants, provided below, for advice on how to present a good research proposal.
