The Gene Regulation Lab at the IDIBAPS Research Institute (Barcelona), an ICREA group, is looking for a postdoc to work in the area of “Regulation of Gene Expression in Cell Differentiation and Cancer”.

ZEB1 and ZEB2 are key regulators of stemness, cell differentiation, and tumor initiation and progression. The successful candidate will work in one of the hottest areas in molecular oncology, investigating the role of ZEB1 and ZEB2 in a number of timely cancer topics (e.g., cancer-tumor microenvironment crosstalk, metabolic reprogramming, cancer stem cells) and possible models established in the group (e.g., colorectal cancer, hematological malignancies).

The project will make use a wide array of in vitro and in vivo approaches including transgenic mouse models unique to our group, high throughput techniques (RNAseq, metabolomics).

The post holder will also participate in other projects currently under way in the group.

Essential Requirements

  • PhD degree in Biology or related bio- medical discipline obtained not earlier than January 2012.
  • Strong publication record with at least 2-3 first-author articles in D1 journals with high impact factor
  • Solid background in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with mouse models of cancer, gene expression profiling, or transcriptional regulation will be a definite advantage.
  • Previous experience in molecular oncology in colorectal carcinomas or hematological malignancies will be a definite advantage.
  • Postdoctoral stays outside Spain will be a definitive advantage

The selected candidate will apply to competitive postdoc calls in Spain/Europe

For candidates with a strong CV, it will be possible to pay his/her salary until the results of the postdoctoral fellowship are announced. Salary will be commensurate with experience and publication record.
