The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Co-ordinating and managing the Sport Science Education Certificate;

  • Liaising with the Sport and Distance Education components of the Sport Science Certificate;

  • Teaching Sport Science at undergraduate and postgraduate level;

  • Undertaking teaching practice;

  • Conducting scholarly research.


Minimum Requirements

  • PhD or Masters in Sport Science or Sport Science Education;

  • SACE registration;

  • Three to five years’ teaching experience in higher education;

  • Evidence of teaching and Sport Science or Sport Science Education at higher education level;

  • Evidence of research publications in Sport Science or Sport Science Education;

  • Experience in course/module development, programme co-ordination, and hybrid teaching and learning.


Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behavioural Attributes)

  • Be transformational in educational view;

  • Student-centred in approach.


Added Advantages and Preferences

  • Doctorate in Sport Science or Sport Science Education;

  • Experience in working in distance education;

  • Experience in teaching and playing sports.


The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 437 905 to R 579 726 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
