Duties and responsibilities:

  • Present lectures, tutorials, small-group discussions and dissection training in Human Anatomy for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Present lectures, seminars and tutorials in Human Anatomy for postgraduate students in medicine and the health professions.
  • Facilitate small-group discussions and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Possible involvement in curriculum development and module management with regard to modules presented to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the health professions.
  • Participate in the departmental research programme.
  • Participate actively in research projects and postgraduate supervision.
  •  

    Inherent requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Human Anatomy.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.
  • A good academic record.
  •  

    Required competencies:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
  • Ability to function independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to organise workload and to perform under pressure.
  •  

    Recommendations:

  • Willingness to enroll for a doctoral degree in Human Anatomy at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.
  • Proven academic work experience in the higher education sector.
  • Experience in research and obtaining research funds.
  • Valid driver's license.
  •  

    Assumption of duties:

    01 March 2018.
