Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor

 

Duties

  • Making payment recons on all payments in the Projects Management office and tracking actual expenditure;
  • Assisting with and managing project financial proposals, project costs, capital and operating budgets;
  • Preparing contract documentation, prefeasibility and feasibility estimates for building projects;
  • Managing the review of actual expenditure in comparison to budgets;
  • Preparing reports on project spending;
  • Preparing reports for Department of higher education regarding spending;
  • Forecasting annual capital and operational expenditure;
  • Adjudicating tender reports, setting up and preparing tender reports;
  • Budget management for capital funds and project funding;
  • Advancing and maintaining sound working relationships with internal clients as well as external professionals in the built environment in order to promote the image of Facility Management;
  • Project closeouts and finalising budgetary funds.

 

Job Requirements

  • Honours degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent;
  • Registered as a Professional QS with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession;
  • Eight years’ relevant experience;
  • A valid code B or EB driver's licence;
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills in both English and Afrikaans;
  • Good computer skills with strong abilities in MS Office and the WinQS programs;
  • The ability to promote and maintain good relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.

 

Recommendation

Multidisciplinary knowledge of and experience in various aspects of the built environment, with emphasis on the preparation of accurate cost estimates and contract documentation.
