Are you an experienced and influential professional working at a senior level with the ability to develop excellent operational and reporting processes that support the delivery of University strategy?

Can you lead and collaborate at all levels to deliver an excellent Research Operations service?

Would you like to be part of a team delivering significant growth in research activity?

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will directly manage the Central Research Operations team and be the functional lead of the University-wide Research Operations Service. You will be responsible for the delivery of research grants and contracts management for a portfolio of grants generating research income of approx. £130m p.a. (rising to £200m p.a. by 2021).

 

You will work closely with the Finance Executive Group, Research and Innovation Service (RIS) Senior Management Group and the Director of Strategy and Planning to ensure the successful implementation of the University’s Research and Innovation Strategy and delivery of a customer-focused and responsive Research Operations service.You will champion and promote best practice in research operations across the University, ensuring a consistently high quality, aligned, agile service supporting diverse academic and research communities to grow and manage their research portfolios in a sustainable manner. You will utilise your external networks to identify changes in the external environment which may impact on University strategy, policy or plans, and interpret these to shape future developments in research management internally and in the wider sector.
