Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage contracted security service providers in line with the Service Level Agreement.
  • Provide leadership and direction to in-house members of Protection Services Department at Qwaqwa Campus.
  • Provide advisory services to Qwaqwa management in relation to all aspects of safety and security management.
  • Manage budget allocated to Protection Services Department in Qwaqwa Campus.
  • Conduct security vulnerability assessments, develop and implement mitigation plans.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Protection Services Department strategy.
  • Serve as a point of contact between Qwaqwa Campus and law enforcement agencies in the Qwaqwa areas.
  • Provide leadership during protests actions on Qwaqwa Campus to ensure effective coordination of emergency and crisis situations on Campus.
  • Ensure that all reported incidents are properly investigated and to liaise with all the necessary stakeholders in that regard.
  • Inherent requirements:

    • Diploma/Degree in Security Management or any other relevant qualification applicable to safety and security environment.
    • PSIRA Grade A registration.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years Middle Management experience in safety and security environment.
    • A valid driver’s license.

  • Willingness to work long hours especially during crises, and to be on standby for emergencies taking place on campus.
  • Recommendations:

    • Safety Management (SAMTRAC) course offered by NOSA.
    • Management Development Programme (MDP).
    • Understanding of challenges associated with working in a rural area.
    • Knowledge of how the criminal justice system functions.

    Assumption of duties: 

    As soon as possible.
