Junior Lecturer: Commerce Education

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide teaching and learning of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Education activities include: lectures, tutorials and practical work (including teaching practice), seminars, preparation (including reading about relevant fields) and assessment (including internal examination).
  • Consult with students and cooperate with staff.
  • Coordinate academic and administrative tasks related to Commence Education (EMS, Economics, Accounting and Business Studies).
  • Conduct research and produce quality research outputs.
  • Contribute to curriculum development in the field of specialisation.
  • Provide leadership in the school with respect to teaching, research and community engagement.
  • Contribute to the overall leadership in the faculty as part of faculty.

    Requirements:

  • An Honour’s degree in Education with an undergraduate degree in Commerce Education.
  • A good academic record.
  • One (1) year relevant experience in teaching within higher education sector. 

    •  

    Required competencies:

  • Teaching experience in accountting, business studies and/or economics.
  • Familiarity with inclusive  practices and alternative assessment strategies.
  • Sound interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Good computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team. 

    •  

    Recommendations:

    Willingness to enrol for a Master’s degree in Commerce Education at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment. Familiarity with teaching strategies, methodologies and assessment practices used in higher education contexts. 

     

    Assumption of duties:
    1 April 2018.
