Manager: Harassment & Discrimination

Legal and Compliance, Eastern Cape Grahamstown

R 568 574 Annually

Effective management of the transformation, advocacy and awareness raising in respect of harassment, discrimination and related issues for the Institution.Responsible for the development and monitoring of related policies, relevant programmes to raise awareness and relevant training.In addition responsible for the coordination of harassment and discrimination complaints.

In terms of Immigration Legislation (Act No. 13 of 2002 & Regulations), international staff members (non-SA citizens) have to comply with the provisions of the Act. This therefore means that the period of employment to non-SA citizens will be guided by the validity period of the work permit.  In line with legislation governing employment of foreign nationals, employment contracts will be offered on the basis that a development plan would be implemented for the transfer of skills to a South African resident. The onus is on candidates to ensure that they are in possession of a valid work permit before the commencement of employment at the University, failing which the employment with Rhodes University will be terminated.

 

Requirements:

An honours degree in counselling, social work, law or related discipline plus approximately 4 years relevant experience where such experience includes: -

  • Previous transformation, advocacy and awareness experience in harassment/discrimination is necessary
  • Previous experience coordinating interdepartmental work to achieve institutional level goals including policy development and programmes development and implementation
  • Previous experience coordinating complaints resolution processes
  • Previous experience working in a higher education environment with a diverse student and staff profile is preferable as is a Masters level Degree

Remuneration (Grade 15)

Basic salary Pension/Provident fund:  R437 362 per annum

Approximate cost to company: R568 574 per annum
