Job Details

Are you an early career researcher looking for your first challenge?

Do you have a background in the design and synthesis of novel bioactive small molecules?

Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive universities?

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our project team, following the award of a Royal Society International Collaboration grant to our Principal Investigator, Professor Colin Fishwick.

Our project focuses on the computer-aided design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of inhibitors of a number of important bacterial proteins, as potential anti-tuberculosis (TB) drug leads. The project is in collaboration with the group of Professor Kelly Chibale at the University of Cape Town, and will involve regular contact between the Leeds and Cape Town researchers.

You will contribute to the TB inhibitor discovery project by supporting the activities of the research group and contributing to the dissemination of research results.

You will have a first or Masters degree in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a closely allied discipline, alongside experience in the synthesis of biologically active small molecules and of contributing to publishable research. You will also have good interpersonal, communication and time management skills.

To explore the post further or for any queries you may have, please contact: Professor Colin Fishwick, Head of Organic Chemistry Tel: +44 (0)113 343 6510, email: c.w.g.fishwick@leeds.ac.uk
