Job Details

Job Title: - Faculty of Law Dean’s Office (Chair for Social Justice) Administrative Officer B2 (Five-year Fixed-term Contract) (Ref. RG00/098/0318)

The Faculty of Law Trust Chair for Social Justice is situated in the Faculty of Law and Prof. Thuli Madonsela took up this position in January 2018. The Chair is active in the fields of research, teaching and social impact and community engagement.

 

Duties

  • Managing diaries;
  • Providing administrative and secretarial support for individuals/committees (including preparing agendas and taking of minutes);
  • Preparing and managing correspondence, reports and other documents;
  • Setting up and maintaining filing systems, databases and e-mail distribution lists;
  • Financial administration (including capturing requisitions on SU’s financial system);
  • Making travel and accommodation arrangements (including accompanying the principal to selected events);
  • Professional liaising with clients and students;
  • Event coordination, including workshops and conferences;
  • Basic research work (internet searches and preparation of briefing notes);
  • Running basic errands where necessary.

 

Job Requirements

  • A relevant post-matric qualification;
  • A minimum of five years’ appropriate work experience;
  • An excellent spoken and written command of English, and the ability to function effectively in a multilingual environment;
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, both independently and within a team;
  • Sound interpersonal relations;
  • Effective organisational ability;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Ability to deliver a professional and friendly service under pressure;
  • Positive attitude towards clients and colleagues.

 

Recommendation

  • Knowledge of the University’s financial system.
