Senior Assistant Officer: Academic Student Tutorial and Excellence Programme (A-STEP) (post level 12)

Duties and responsibilities:
Advance, administer and monitor the tutorial session attendance registers.
Assist the coordinator with logistical arrangements of training sessions.
Administer tutor payments and ensure that claim forms reach A-STEP office in Bloemfontein.
Participate in and coordinate tutor meetings.
Compile quarterly and/or semester reports regarding the tutorial programmes progress within the designated faculties.
Participate in and coordinate tutor induction and training.
Liaise with lecturers within the two designated faculties.
Assist with tutor recruitment and selection.
Conduct and administer the observations, monitoring and evaluations of tutors.
Inherent requirements:
Relevant bachelor’s degree.
One (1) to two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
Above average oral and written language competence in English.
Assertiveness, results-orientated and able to work independently.
A good understanding of supplemental instruction and the South African Higher education context.
Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) in order to be able to write reports and develop PowerPoint presentations.
Experience working in student academic development and working in higher education.
Tutoring and academic facilitation skills.
