Job Details

A Research Associate / Senior Research Associate position is available on a MRC funded project to determine the molecular mechanism by which the E325K mutation in the erythroid specific transcription factor KLF1 causes a severe anaemia in humans.

The project will utilise our recently developed immortalised erythroid line BEL-A that recapitulates erythropoiesis, along with CRISPR genome editing to create a cellular model system of this disease. The cells will be used along with comparative proteomics to obtain a comprehensive map of the repertoire of proteins aberrantly expressed in disease cells and techniques such as ChIPseq and Capture-C 3C to determine the mechanism by which the mutation results in disrupted gene regulation.

The position is open to candidates who have a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related discipline. Experience of designing components for and performing CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing via NHEJ and HDR, of ChIP-seq and of cell culture for both cell lines and primary cells is essential

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Jan Frayne, Jan.Frayne@Bristol.ac.uk, Tel: 0117 3312127.

Interviews are expecting to take place either during the week beginning 23rd or 30th April 2018.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 on 17 April 2018
