Student Affairs Division

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVCA) is a member of The University’s senior executive, and is responsible for the University’s commitment to providing high-quality teaching and learning, and enhancing the UQ student experience

The Student Affairs Division falls within the DVCA portfolio, which brings together central units that provide operational, corporate, and pastoral support for all aspects of the student life-cycle. 

The Division is a key driver in enhancing the UQ student experience, and retention, success, and employability.  It has two operational arms:  the Student Services Directorate, and the UQ Student Employability Centre. The Division also manages the University’s day-to-day relationship with UQU, and student accommodation providers, and works with UQ Health Care to ensure medical service provision for students.

 

The role

This role will plan and deliver a program which facilitates the transition of students to the University environment and encourages them to fully engage in the student experience. Working as part of a team within Student Affairs, this position will develop and deliver student facing initiatives that enhance the student experience for all students at UQ.

Working across UQ and with students and colleagues in all faculties, this position will coordinate, improve and develop new initiatives to enhance the sense of belonging and community networks. By providing opportunities and partnerships across the UQ community, this position will lead the efforts in specific projects within the Student Experience Program and specifically in the Welcome and Induction initiatives.

 

The person

You should have a strong desire to work within and in partnership with UQ community on designing and coordinating projects to improve the student experience at UQ.  The ability to work with a diverse range of people with strong interpersonal and communications skills will be essential. Experience of working with volunteers, analysing data and report writing, alongside planning and problem solving skills will be essential.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, continuing at HEW Level 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207.07- $79,964.50 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822.27 - $93,558.47 p.a.).
