Job Details
The postholder will develop a research programme in permanent magnetic materials that complements and supports existing activities within the School, with a particular focus on the recycling, manufacturing and characterisation of these materials, and also contribute to the School’s education and administration activities.
The overall roles within this post are:
- To initiate and conduct international-quality research into permanent magnetic materials.
- To develop facilities for characterisation of magnetic materials
- To contribute to teaching in the School, particularly on magnetic and other functional materials, the circular economy of functional materials.
- To contribute to administration in the School in relation to research and education
Teaching is likely to include a substantial contribution to: (a) the management, development (including programme/module review) and delivery of teaching and assessment; and (b) enhancement of the student experience or employability. The role will typically also involve developing and advising others, including: (a) providing expert advice to staff and students, (b) supervising and examining PhD students, and (c) developing and advising others on learning and teaching tasks and methods.
Person Specification
- Extensive research/teaching experience and scholarship within subject specialism
- Proven ability to devise, advise on and manage learning/ research
- Skills in managing, motivating and mentoring others successfully at all levels
