UQ Centre for Coal Seam Gas
Job Number: 504157

The University of Queensland’s Centre for Coal Seam Gas (CCSG) is a dynamic multi-disciplinary research centre dedicated to developing innovative science, technology and impact assessment to support leading practice in the evolving onshore gas industry. The Centre provides a coordinated access point to address community, government and industry challenges and collaborates with a range of UQ’s schools and institutes as well as with industry and research organisations, nationally and internationally.

The Centre conducts research and supports education in key discipline areas including economics, business, petroleum engineering, geosciences, water, ecology and social sciences. The Centre also provides independent advice to industry and government on policy or business-relevant matters, leadership on scientific and technical issues as well as strategic planning.

The Social Performance stream conducts research on the social dimensions of gas development including cumulative social and economic effects, community acceptance of the industry, stakeholder trust, coexistence relationships with agriculture, and potential health impacts. We are seeking PhD scholars to contribute to understanding cumulative social and economic effects through participatory systems analysis, complex adaptive systems modelling or similar approaches.
