Anatomy Teaching Fellow

Job Details

To work as a member of the team who deliver teaching of Anatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students within the College, University at large, and occasionally to external clients within an established teaching programme, supervised by member of academic staff with ultimate responsibility for the design, delivery and assessment of the teaching programme.

The main focus of this role is to provide clinical and/or anatomical input to the development and maintenance of teaching materials and assessments for use in the MBChB, BDS, MPharm, BSc, Biomaterials and other degree programmes.

The post holder will be expected to engage in Continuing Professional Development activities as agreed with their supervisor, and contribute to research efforts in medical education.

Experience

  • Experience of cadaveric anatomy gained either through dissection or exposure to prosections
  • Excellent knowledge of Anatomy, Embryology, Physiology and Histology
  • Awareness of HTA regulations, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety procedures (desirable)

Skills

  • Experience of delivering anatomy teaching using cadaveric material
  • Proven record of strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to work a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office Applications
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and work on own initiative
  • Possess a confident manner in work related duties
  • High level of motivation and ability to work well at times of high teaching levels/volume
  • Ability to assess and organise resources effectively
  • Digital Delivery of Teaching, Web and/or Imaging skills (desirable)
  • Prosection skills (desirable)
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
  • A flexible approach to hours of work, to fit in with the needs of the practical classes.
