The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) invites applications for a Professorship in Ophthalmic Genetics and Genetic Epidemiology.

 

Your profile

We are seeking an outstanding individual who will establish an ambitious interdisciplinary research program focusing on the discovery of the genetic cause of monogenic and genetically complex ophthalmic disease including the exploration of modifier genes and their impact on therapeutic effects. Candidates should have a strong track record in disease gene identification and a strong background in computational and in-silico methods. Experience in elucidating molecular pathomechanisms of ophthalmic diseases will be preferable. It is expected that the professor and the associated group members will contribute to genetic profiling of patients being seen in the Dept. of Ophthalmology, University of Basel, and will thereby contribute to establish personalized medicine in ophthalmology. They should further closely interact with other groups in the Molecular and Clinical Center of IOB, as well as with other members of the Medical and Science Faculty. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate the position will be either tenure-track or tenured.
