Job Details

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (the Life Course Centre) researches the causes of deep and persistent disadvantage, with the aim of improving the lives of Australia’s most disadvantaged people. The Life Course Centre is based at the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Queensland, and has staff based at the University of Queensland, the University of Western Australia, the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne.

 

The role

The Media and Communications Officer will coordinate and implement a range of activities that support the Life Course Centre’s strategic goals for research translation and impact across a range of media.  These range from the Centre’s website and general Centre news, to working papers, fact sheets, policy briefings and position papers, and the Annual Report.

 

The person

The successful applicant will have a qualification in a relevant discipline, combined with substantial relevant experience. They will be an experienced writer, with demonstrated knowledge of integrated communications tactics and methods, and proficiency in the use of communication and web software. They will be able to work independently as well as being an effective member of a small team. Experience in higher education or the public sector will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of or strong interest in the social sciences.

This role is a part-time position, and flexible working arrangements can be negotiated.

Remuneration

This is a part-time, 0.6 fixed term appointment until 1 June 2021 at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $49,129 - $53,735 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $57,481 - $62,870 p.a.).
