Postdoctoral Position: Posttranscriptional gene regulation in T cells

The Molecular Immune Regulation group at the Department of Biomedicine of the University of Basel and Basel University Hospital in Switzerland is seeking a highly motivated postdoc to work at the intersection of immunology, computational biology and molecular biology. We have recently developed a CRISPR/Cas9-based approach for T cell genome engineering (Kornete et al., The Journal of Immunology, 2018). The current project applies this and refined methods to dissect miRNA/gene networks in T cells.

 

Your position

  • You combine analysis of RNA-Seq, CLIP and metabolomics data with wet lab work to perturb genetic networks in T cells
  • You employ a variety of genome engineering approaches in T cells (CRISPR/Cas9, Cpf-1, HDR, base editors) to experimentally validate your in silico analysis
  • You actively contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations
  • You contribute to validating results in mouse models

 

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • PhD, MD or MD PhD degree in immunology, cell/molecular biology or computational biology
  • The ideal candidate has a strong background in immunology (including hands-on work) combined with practical experience analyzing "omics" data (e.g. RNA-Seq, metabolomics)
  • You enjoy combining computational analysis with bench work
  • Solid theoretical and practical background in molecular biology. No prior genome engineering experience required.
  • You have good communication skills and enjoy interdisciplinary work
  • Experience working with mice is a plus
