Job Details
The School of Food Science and Nutrition is the oldest such University department in the UK, and is currently undergoing an investment in staff for growth, expanding its academic capability in Nutritional Science, with the aim of providing mechanistic evidence of the role of food components and diets on health and well-being. We are seeking a Lectureship appointment in the area of Nutritional Science to deliver world class research and inspirational teaching and supervision, and invite applications from outstanding academics of high potential who are able to demonstrate a growing track record in research, student education and academic leadership. As a Lecturer, you will carry out research and teaching and contribute to academic leadership in the field of nutritional science with an emphasis on understanding the biological or physiological mechanisms underpinning the impacts of food and diets on nutrition and health, particularly in increasing understanding of the role of dietary carbohydrates (sugar, starch, fibre) on a range of health outcomes. You will develop collaborative research with members of the Nutrition and Public Health group, other groups in the school, University and nationally and internationally to propose evidence-based solutions for improving population health.With a vision and drive to develop a prestigious internationally competitive research portfolio as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching you will make a significant impact on the performance, stature and profile of research and student education at the University of Leeds. You will have a PhD in a relevant field, and a proven record of both research outputs and teaching in a University environment.
