This post provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced primary care researcher to spend up to 10.5 months, conducting qualitative interviews for the SPCR-funded feasibility study of Pelargonium sioides root extract Eps 7630 (Kaloba) for lower respiratory tract infection in adults, also known as HATRIC, research study. The Study, led by Dr Merlin Willcox, Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care, is aimed at testing the feasibility of using a herbal preparation instead of antibiotics for patients with bronchitis, in primary care. Experience of transcribing patient and/or health care professional interviews would be an advantage.

The Primary Medical Care Group is a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, a national collaboration between the nine departments that performed best in the 2013 REF, which provides major opportunities for networking, training, and multicentre collaborations.

We are looking for a track record in qualitative research in a UK primary care setting, including proven experience of carrying out patient interviews.

The part time hours are for 21 hours, 3 days a week (0.6fte), these hours are flexible and should be discussed at interview stage.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
