Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: Clinical Pharmacokinetics

Five-year contract appointment
Duties
- Teaching Clinical Pharmacokinetics at tertiary level, including to undergraduate MBChB students and postgraduate MMed Clinical Pharmacology, BSc Honours, MSc and PhD in Pharmacology students;
- Involved in curriculum development/innovation;
- Acting as supervisor for postgraduate students, especially in terms of their research projects;
- Intimately involved in research in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
Job Requirements
- A medical or related scientific degree at the level of MMed Clinical Pharmacology, MSc Pharmacology, or PhD;
- Teaching experience of at least three years in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, or relevant equivalent field;
- Research experience, including supervising postgraduate students in Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, or relevant equivalent field;
- Operational knowledge of Clinical Pharmacokinetics with at least three years' working experience;
- Project management skills, including time management and knowledge assimilation;
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills;
- Excellent organisational and communication skills;
- Good interpersonal skills (i.e. track record of being a good team player);
- Demonstrated experience of proactively driving a team in a variety of tasks, projects and team management;
- Self-motivated individual;
- Ability to process information, analyse data and reach conclusions based on sound reasoning;
- Registration with a relevant professional council/body (HPCSA or SAPC) if applicable to professional group.
Recommendation
- Doctoral degree (PhD, DPharm, DPhil);
- A strong and proven record of research and postgraduate student supervision in pharmacology;
- Member of a relevant professional society;
- Training and experience in pharmacometrics;
- Experience in supervising research activities in a bioanalytical laboratory bio-analytical services using LCMS and HPLC equipment;
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills;
- Qualification or certification in project management.
