Sales & Marketing Manager

(Ref. MHF/126/0418)

Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent will work as an individual in a team environment to drive the success of the gymnasium and overall organisation.  The incumbent will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities of the gymnasium, as indicated in the duties below.

 

Duties

  • Devising appropriate strategies to actively market the gymnasium and the different product offerings in the pre-identified target markets in and around Stellenbosch;
  • Lending Sales and Marketing assistance to the gymnasium at the Tygerberg Medical Campus as well;
  • Establishing, managing and monitoring the development and the successful implementation of all sales, advertising and marketing strategies;
  • Ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are developed, established and implemented across the Sales and Customer Care departments within the gymnasium;
  • Establishing and implementing weekly and monthly Sales and Marketing Planners to effectively market and promote the gymnasium and all related areas (including group exercise and personal training);
  • Configuring daily, weekly and monthly reports of all the sales consultants regarding contacts, appointments, presentations and sales;
  • Reconciling weekly and monthly sales reports, including the monitoring of all debit order contract sales;
  • Managing all unpaid debit orders;
  • Actively engaging with the sales team to set daily, weekly and monthly targets and continuously driving and managing these processes;
  • Proactively recruiting for Sales Consultants and Customer Care Assistants on an ongoing basis;
  • Providing leadership and management to all Sales and Customer Care staff in the gymnasium;
  • Ensuring effective training and development plans for all Sales and Customer Care staff are in place for all internal and external training interventions;
  • Ensuring that all staff members adhere to the company’s Financial and HR policies and procedures at all times;
  • Implementing, managing and monitoring all financial and general administration systems;
  • Establishing and ensuring an effective member retention strategy is created and implemented for clients;
  • Ensuring that all customer queries, complaints and compliments are resolved timeously;
  • Assisting the Head: Fitness and Wellness with any other ad hoc projects.

 

Job Requirements

  • A related qualification in Sales, Marketing, or Advertising(relevant in-house qualifications will also be considered);
  • Minimum of six years' work experience, preferably in sales, marketing and/or advertising;
  • The ability to speak in front of large target audiences;
  • Computer literate in the Microsoft Windows suite, especially Excel;
  • Excellent planning, administrative and organisational skills;
  • Passion for the sports industry and for excellence in member service;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to thrive in a team within a diverse work environment;
  • Good conflict management skills;
  • Willingness and availability to work after hours and on weekends.

 

Recommendation

  • Fitness Industry-related qualification and experience;
  • Previous experience in managing a diverse team will be a distinct advantage
