Recover Injury Research Centre

RECOVER is a leading Australian research centre and is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland, and the Queensland Motor Accident Insurance Commission. Research generated in RECOVER informs policy and clinical practice to improve the health, psychological, social, vocational and economic outcomes of people with injuries and disabilities following motor vehicle accidents.

The Centre's research supports the Motor Accident Insurance Commission's key objectives of an affordable and viable Compulsory Third Party Insurance scheme, better health outcomes, community engagement and participation, and a positive claimant experience.

RECOVER has three primary research themes: Improving the delivery and availability of evidence-based services; Designing better therapies; and Facilitating return to pre-injury functioning.

The role

The primary purpose of this position is to undertake research that focuses on developing improved treatments, particularly exercise interventions, for people with musculoskeletal injury after a road traffic crash. Professor Michele Sterling leads this research area in RECOVER and is Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Recovery after Road Traffic Injuries.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant area with an established/developing record of achievement in independent research. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to undertake high level research related to health outcomes, and at level B the ability to provide leadership in research, including research training and supervision. The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in conducting statistical analysis of research/ clinical data, and at level B experience in preparation and submission of research funding applications.

Remuneration

The appointment will be made on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 31 December 2019 at Research Academic Level A or B, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The remuneration package of a Research Academic Level A appointment will be in the range of $64,533.50 - $87,535.13 p.a, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $75,504.20 - $102,416.10 p.a).

The remuneration package of a Research Academic Level B appointment will be in the range of $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $107,807.01 - $128,020.46 p.a).
