The Department of Music seeks to appoint a part-time Teaching Associate in Music (0.6 FTE from 1 September 2018 to 31 January 2019; 0.3 FTE from 1 February 2019 to 30 September 2019). This fixed term post is tenable for thirteen months. Based in the Department of Music, you will possess a doctorate in Composition. You will already have some relevant teaching experience.

You will have a particular interest in contemporary composition across a wide range of genres, including electroacoustic composition (in which you will have significant hands-on experience). You will assist with other aspects of the running of the Department of Music and with the delivery of its academic programmes.

Bristol’s Music Department has a highly regarded teaching profile, achieving consistently high league table rankings and attracting top-class students. Composition is a particular strength, with three composers among the permanent staff.

In addition to its distinctive research and teaching profile, the department is the focal point of music-making at the highest level for students from across the entire University, who participate in its many choirs, orchestras and other performing groups. The result is a lively, supportive and creative atmosphere in which staff and students continually inspire each other to perform to their highest potential.

The post is a 13 month fixed-term appointment and is available from 1 September 2018.

The anticipated date for interviews is Monday 18 June 2018.

For informal enquiries please contact Professor Emma Hornby at Emma.Hornby@bristol.ac.uk.
