Description of IMIBIC

The Maimonides Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba - IMIBIC, located in Cordoba, southern Spain, is a research health institute that brings together scientific research and medical practice, with the aim of speeding up the translation of research results into clinical practice and the development of new therapies. It is jointly owned by the University of Cordoba and the Reina Sofia University Hospital, and accredited within the framework of health centres of excellence recognised by the Spanish National Institute of Health Carlos III, and has received the HR Excellence in Research award of the European Commission (HRS4R).

IMIBIC hosts over 600 researchers, of which nearly 400 combine their research activities with patient care. The research activities are structured in 42 research groups that cooperate in the implementation of the IMIBIC’s five scientific programmes: Active aging and Fragility, Nutrition and endocrine and metabolic diseases, Infectious and immunological diseases and organ transplants, Cancer (Oncology and Oncohematology), and Chronic and Inflammatory Diseases.

Our major goal is to promote biomedical innovation as a powerful engine for economic and social development. To this end, the Institute offers an active environment in which to conduct high-level scientific research. Regular seminars and research events offer the opportunity to meet with national and international speakers covering a diverse range of topics in biomedicine.

The IMIBIC building has a privileged location within the University Health Sciences Campus, and with connection to the Reina Sofia University Hospital. It hosts a wide variety of core facilities for researchers, including the Biomedical Research Support Units brand new equipment and laboratories to support the technical needs of the IMIBIC community, as well as a Clinical Research Unit to support clinical studies and research.

 

Aim of the call

The Maimonides Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba (IMIBIC) is seeking to develop proposals with postdoctoral researchers for submission for the EC Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships.

Profile

  • PhD in the field of life sciences.
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English
  • The candidate may not have resided or carried out her/his main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline, 12th of September 2018.

Selection Process

The process consists of an eligibility check, evaluation and ranking of all CVs received. Following the evaluation, the highest ranked applicants may be called for a personal interview in order to evaluate more precisely the skills of the candidate.
