Research Assistant - Aeroelasticity Department

The Institute of Fluid Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences (Instytut Maszyn Przepływowych im Roberta Szewalskiego Polskiej Akademii Nauk) is the leading organization in the field of fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, thermodynamics and heat exchange, laser measurement techniques, machinery dynamics, tribology and diagnostics of energy production machinery. The thematic orientation of its research concerns aerodynamics, solid mechanics and energy conversion in flows including plasma and lasers.

 

Centre of Mechanics of Machines - Aeroelasticity Department

Department conducts works in the area of machine dynamics and in particular of the fluid-flow machinery. The models developed on the basis of finite elements are being used for modeling of real objects. Investigations are concentrated on the vibration problems, strength and life span of the construction elements of steam turbines (blades, rotor discs, bodies). The models have been developed with account of the real object operation conditions. Department also focuses its activities in the field of aeroelasticity calculations of turbomachinery components and constructions.

 

Description of the tasks

• Conducting numerical calculations of turbomachinery components (blades, rotor discs, bodies) on the vibration problems, unsteady forces acting on rotor blades and analysis of flutter.
• Designing and modernization of the turbines flow parts.
• Taking part in research projects and organizational work of department.
