SUPPORTER’S NAME: Fabien Cignetti/Isabelle Olivier

SUBJECT DESCRITION:

Project summary

The project, funded by the IDEX Univ. Grenoble Alpes, focuses on the mechanisms of formation and consolidation of motor memories in human development and involves multimodal neuroimaging (structural/functional MRI; EEG). The main aim of the project is to study how brain networks reconfigure (connectomics, brain tissue properties) during adaptive motor learning and the extent to which learning-related network reconfiguration predicts future motor behaviour, with a special focus on typical and atypical (learning disorders) children.
Requested expertise: Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Neuroscience or Human Movement Science or Health Sciences or Psychology or related area and have some research experience in neuroimaging, experimental design, statistical analysis and programming. (S)he should demonstrate a high motivation and interest for the topic and be able to communicate in French and English. Proficiency in French language is not a pre-request, but commitment to learning is mandatory.

Host institution/supervisor

The PhD position is available with Dr. Fabien Cignetti and Dr. Isabelle Olivier, who are members of the team SPM (Health, Plasticity, Motricity) at TIMC-IMAG Lab. The main goal of the team is to study brain maturation and developmental processes that underlie production of motor skills. The position will provide training in various areas of cognitive neuroscience, and will take advantage of expertise (neuroimaging, health sciences, engineering) present at Grenoble-Alpes University via local collaborations.
