Assistant Professor in Software Engineering

The Department of Systems and Computing Engineering at Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia invites you to apply for an open faculty position in Software Engineering at the assistant professor level, beginning July 2018 or on a mutually agreed date thereafter. Our department is committed to fostering research that can address grand challenges facing our society. We have one undergraduate program, seven master programs and a doctoral program.

The Department has ABET accredited program in Systems and Computing Engineering and High Quality accreditation from the Minister of Education in Colombia. According to The Best Global Universities Ranking by US News & World Report (2018), Universidad de Los Andes is the first university in Colombia and is 7 in Latin America. Candidate specification

Required qualifications for the position include an earned Ph.D., at the time of hire, with a specialization in software engineering, evidence of the ability to develop and sustain an active research program, and a sincere interest in advising students and quality teaching including designing/improving courses, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. An aggregated value would be to demonstrate success at external funding from sources and recognition from national/international/professional bodies.

Applicants from all areas of software engineering are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to applicants who have a background in software design and software quality.  The new Assistant Professor will have internal funding from the University to initiate his/her research plan.
