Job summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking a Lecturer to conduct high quality research and teaching related to Construction. 

This is an exciting full time open ended appointment, which will provide the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues within the Department and across the College.

 

Duties and responsibilities

You will have a broad understanding of Construction and will be expected to plan, resource and direct an original and high quality research programme in one or more aspects of Construction.

The appointee will have a broad understanding of Construction and will be expected to plan, resource and direct an original and high quality research programme in one or more aspects of Construction.  Areas of particular interest are:

  • Automation in construction including robotics
  • Construction processes and materials
  • Construction management
  • Asset management

 

You will also have the capability to carry out research projects alone and will be expected to develop and lead collaborative projects, particularly with other members of the Department, to tackle broader challenges.

 

Essential requirements

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in a subject relevant to Construction, together with a broad knowledge of Construction and a track record of high quality research activity and publishing technical papers in leading international peer-reviewed journals.

You will also have the appropriate technical skills to perform cutting edge and rigorous research in an aspect of Construction, together with the vision and imagination to develop a series of good ideas for funded research projects.

You will have the ability to interact positively with other academics, a willingness to communicate well, and good coordination, organisation and leadership skills.
